Mechanical Engineer – HVAC Design | NYC MEP Firm

A growing NYC-based MEP consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead and deliver HVAC design on a wide range of building projects. You’ll work across healthcare, education, commercial, and infrastructure upgrades — with the chance to make a real impact in a collaborative, diverse team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead HVAC design from concept through construction across multiple project types

  • Conduct field surveys and develop design criteria

  • Produce contract documents including ductwork, piping, equipment layout, and specifications

  • Review RFIs, submittals, and conduct site inspections and punch-lists

  • Coordinate closely with other trades and manage documentation across all project phases (SD, DD, CD)

  • Assist with project scheduling and resource planning

Requirements

  • 4–6+ years of HVAC design experience in consulting or engineering

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (P.E. a plus)

  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and HVAC calculation tools

  • Familiarity with NYC codes and standards (ASHRAE, LEED, etc.)

  • Strong coordination, documentation, and communication skills
