Job Overview

Search Solution Group is seeking a Contract Accounting Specialist on behalf of our client, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to live independently and fully participate in their communities.

This role is responsible for managing financial reporting, maintaining accurate accounting records, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit regulations. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of nonprofit financial practices, supporting both day-to-day accounting operations and strategic financial planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain financial records, reports, and general ledger accounts
  • Develop and manage financial statements for individual programs to ensure compliance and accurate reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Assist with budget preparation, tracking, and management
  • Manage accounts payable, including reconciliation and timely payments
  • Analyze financial data and present reports in a clear and accurate manner
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and tax requirements
  • Coordinate and support annual audits with external auditors
  • Monitor organizational cash flow and assist with forecasting
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Track donations, grants, and other funding sources to ensure proper allocation and reporting
  • Support strategic financial planning and organizational decision-making
  • Ensure all financial activities align with nonprofit bylaws and regulatory requirements
  • Report financial performance and program-specific data to the Executive Director
  • Perform additional accounting and administrative tasks as assigned

Requirements Include

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Experience

  • Proven experience in nonprofit accounting or a similar role
  • Experience managing financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance in a nonprofit environment preferred

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial data
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office tools

Certifications

  • CPA certification is a plus

Knowledge

  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles, procedures, and nonprofit financial regulations
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as Tradogram and MIP Abila
  • Knowledge of financial reporting, auditing, and compliance requirements
  • Understanding of grant and fund accounting practices
