This posting will be used for on-going recruitment and may close at any time. Applicant lists may be screened more than once. New Mexico Rehabilitation Center (NMRC) is a Joint Commission accredited specialty hospital providing rehabilitation services to citizens of the State of New Mexico.
Why does the job exist?
This position will provide comprehensive healthcare to NMRC patients. Responsibilities will include assisting, diagnosing, prescribing, and referrals where appropriate.
How does it get done?
This position works in conjunction with medical staff and primary care team. Performs and documents comprehensive health histories and physical examination. Formulates diagnoses and identifies problems and health risk profiles on patients. Provides information and support to patients and families regarding disease process and treatment plan. Manages patients in accordance with established New Mexico Rehabilitation Center Nursing and Medical Policies and Procedures.

NMRC is Specialty Hospital that treats patients and clients with Chemical Dependency and Medical Rehabilitation needs.
Ideal Candidate
Will have a current Medical License in NM. Experience working with adult post-acute patients to include but not limited to rehabilitation and chemical dependency. Must be able to analyze both medical health history data physical examination data to form medical opinions, have excellent written and oral communication skills, be caring and compassionate, be a team player, have the ability to supervise, teach, and mentor.
Minimum Qualification
- Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
- Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), or as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the New Mexico Department of Health and two (2) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above licensure requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
This position is designated a safety sensitive. Must successfully complete post offer preemployment criminal records background check is conditional pending results of criminal background check. Employment is subject to preemployment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a rehabilitation hospital setting. Exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Long periods of walking, sitting, standing, bending and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds may be required. Exposure to potentially violent patients in a volatile situation. May be required to work weekends, holidays and overtime. Some travel may be required.
