Position Overview: The Veterinary Technician plays a crucial role in the smooth
functioning of a small animal hospital. They provide essential support to veterinarians in
delivering high-quality care to animals, ensuring their well-being and recovery. This
position requires a blend of technical skills, compassion for animals, and effective
communication with both pet owners and colleagues.

Top 5 Roles & Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Level 2 technicians are often responsible for providing direct care
to animals under the supervision of a veterinarian. This includes monitoring and
administering medications, assisting with examinations and procedures, handling
and restraining animals safely, and providing post-operative care. - Diagnostic Procedures: They may be tasked with performing various diagnostic
procedures, such as taking and developing radiography (X-rays), collecting
samples for laboratory analysis (blood, urine, feces), and conducting basic
laboratory tests. - Treatment Planning and Implementation: Level 2 technicians may assist in
developing treatment plans based on veterinary diagnoses and
recommendations. They may administer treatments such as wound care,
medication administration, and fluid therapy, and ensure that treatment protocols
are followed accurately. - Client Communication and Education: These technicians often interact directly
with pet owners, providing information about their pets condition, treatment
options, and post-treatment care instructions. They may also assist in scheduling
appointments and answering client questions over the phone or in person. - Inventory Management and Administrative Tasks: Level 2 technicians may be
responsible for managing inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring that medical
equipment is properly maintained and calibrated. Additionally, they may assist
with administrative tasks such as maintaining patient records, billing, and
scheduling.
It is important to note that these responsibilities may overlap with those of other staff
members in the hospital, and specific duties may vary based on the hospitals workflow
and staffing structure.
The above roles and responsibilities are not exclusive, and there may be times when
additional responsibilities related to laboratory operations or hospital support tasks are
assigned to meet the needs of our veterinary hospital. Flexibility and a willingness to

Qualifications:
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is usually required. Many
employers prefer candidates who have completed a formal education program in
veterinary technology or animal science from an accredited institution. These
programs typically result in an associate degree or bachelors degree. - Certification/Licensure: In many regions, veterinary technicians must be
certified or licensed. This often involves passing a national or state board exam
after completing an accredited veterinary technology program. The specific
requirements for certification or licensure vary by location, so it's important to
check the regulations in your area. - Experience: Employers typically prefer candidates who have practical
experience working with animals, preferably in a veterinary setting. Experience

veterinary assistant can be valuable. - Skills: Level 2 technicians should have strong technical skills related to animal
care and medical procedures. This includes proficiency in tasks such as
administering medications, collecting and processing samples for laboratory
analysis, and performing diagnostic procedures. They should also have excellent
communication skills to interact effectively with clients, veterinarians, and other
staff members. - Knowledge: A solid understanding of animal anatomy, physiology, and common
medical conditions is essential for this role. Additionally, knowledge of veterinary
pharmacology, anesthesia, surgical assisting, and emergency care protocols is
beneficial. - Physical Fitness: Working in a veterinary hospital can be physically demanding,
so candidates should be capable of lifting and restraining animals of various
sizes and breeds. They should also be comfortable working in environments that
may involve exposure to allergens, chemicals, and infectious diseases. - Professionalism and Compassion: Employers look for candidates who

Salary: Range - Competitive salary range of $22.00 - $28.00based on qualifications and
experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits
