Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years OR RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Deliver advanced surgical nursing care in a dynamic operating room environment, working alongside an expert team and utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, including Da Vinci robotics. This contract role seeks a highly skilled RN First Assist with independent Da Vinci robot experience and a strong foundation across multiple surgical specialties, including robotics, spine, ortho, laparoscopic, general, GYN, urology, vascular, and ENT. Youll play a critical role in all perioperative phases, caring for patients ranging in age from 18 to 101, with pediatric cases limited to ENT procedures.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Day shifts preferred at the end of the week; 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts available
  • Call requirement: one weekday call, plus two weekend shifts every six weeks (OR closed on national holidayscall may be required)
  • Initial interview with clinical operations, followed by a second interview with hiring leadership

Qualifications:

  • Current unencumbered RN license for Virginia or multi-state compact
  • Active BLS certification and RNFA (required prior to submission)
  • Minimum 2 years experience as RN First Assist
  • Independent Da Vinci robot proficiency essential
  • Prior travel nursing experience highly valued
  • Scrub experience by end of day preferred
  • Additional credentialing through BSMH required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive preop, intraop, and postop nursing care
  • Anticipate surgical team needs and operate surgical equipment and microscope
  • Serve as the key coordinator for patient care and communication across hospital departments
  • Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique and quality improvement initiatives
  • Assist in patient assessment, education, and discharge planning
  • Coordinate and supervise delegated tasks based on staff competency and legal guidelines
