Join our dynamic operations team as a Yard Manager, leading day-to-day terminal yard and gate operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and exceptional service. In this critical leadership role, youll manage a team that keeps cargo moving seamlesslydriving productivity, cost control, and customer satisfaction. Were looking for a hands-on leader with strong communication skills, a passion for continuous improvement, and a commitment to maintaining a world-class terminal operation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day yard and gate operations, ensuring adherence to HSSE, OSHA, and company safety standards.
  • Develop and execute strategies to achieve performance goals, budget targets, and service excellence.
  • Analyze and monitor KPIs to improve productivity, efficiency, and operational reliability.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime and delays.
  • Manage labor orders, payroll accuracy, scheduling, and compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with port authorities, shipping lines, customs officials, and trucking partners.
  • Mentor and develop Assistant Operations Managers and operational staff through coaching and performance management.
  • Support continuous improvement by implementing new technologies, systems, and process enhancements.
  • Participate in Labor Relations Committee (LRC) and Accident Review Board (ARB) meetings to promote collaboration and safety culture.
  • Prepare and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and fiscal accountability.


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Logistics, Maritime or Port Management, Industrial/Process Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Post graduate studies in Port and/oor Terminal Management, or related business studies preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in marine terminal, logistics, or maritime operations.
  • At least3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience withunion labor (ILA, ILWU, Teamsters, etc.) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of terminal operations software (Navis, Tideworks, EMODAL preferred).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and port safety regulations.
  • Ability to read vessel schedules, bay plans, and operational reports.
  • Experience developing and managing departmental budgets and KPIs.


Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and climb ladders or gangways on vessels.
  • Must wear PPE and work in outdoor environments exposed to weather, noise, and equipment.
  • Rotating schedule with overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.


Additional Requirements

  • Must obtain and maintain a valid TWIC card and Port ID.
  • Subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
