Job Description
This role involves performing a wide range of commercial and industrial carpentry tasks from rough-in through final finish on projects such as offices, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, schools, renovations, and interior fit-outs. You will handle both structural and finishing work, contributing to multiple phases of construction while supporting project teams across various job sites.
Responsibilities
- Perform metal stud framing for exterior and interior walls, including load-bearing walls, prefabricated and panelized framing systems, and suspended drywall systems.
- Assist with wood stud framing when required, depending on experience and project needs.
- Install and finish drywall, including hanging, taping, spackling, and completing all levels of drywall finishing.
- Work with specialty drywall systems such as lead-backed board, mesh and bullet board, specialty wall systems, acoustical wall panels, and access panels.
- Install fiberglass thermal and sound insulation, rigid foam insulation, tilt-up wall insulation, safing, and fire blankets.
- Install suspended ceiling systems, including acoustical grid and tile, metal and wood specialty ceilings, axiom trims, and acoustical ceiling panels.
- Perform rough and finish carpentry, including millwork and finished carpentry tasks on a variety of commercial projects.
- Install doors, frames, and hardware, including commercial doors and related components, ensuring proper alignment and operation.
- Support renovation projects by performing demolition-related carpentry, rebuilding, and detailed finish work as required.
- Assist with installation of metal composite wall panels, composite wall systems, and other specialty wall and ceiling systems.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site, including regular site clean-up and proper storage of tools and materials.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively, including tool belts, hammers, tape measures, cordless power tools, squares, and levels.
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction documents to complete tasks accurately and according to specifications.
- Travel to multiple job sites within the region as needed, adapting to varying project schedules and priorities.
- Communicate clearly with project managers and foremen about strengths, limitations, and progress so work can be assigned effectively.
- Collaborate with crew members ranging from small teams to larger crews, contributing to a positive and efficient work environment.
Essential Skills
- At least 3+ years of commercial carpentry experience or 5+ years of residential carpentry experience.
- Proficiency in commercial carpentry, including rough and finish work on commercial and industrial projects.
- Hands-on experience with metal stud framing, including exterior and interior framing and load-bearing wall systems.
- Ability to perform wood framing when required, depending on project needs and experience level.
- Experience installing and finishing drywall, including all levels of drywall finishing.
- Knowledge of acoustical ceiling systems, including grid and tile and other suspended ceiling assemblies.
- Experience installing doors, frames, and hardware, including commercial doors and hardware sets.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Competence using hand tools and power tools such as hammers, tape measures, cordless power tools, squares, and levels.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to multiple job sites within the region.
- Ownership of basic carpentry tools including a tool belt, hammer, tape measure, cordless power tools, squares, and levels.
- Capability to work on projects from rough-in through final finish, including renovations and fit-outs.
- Strong communication skills to discuss strengths, weaknesses, and past project experience with supervisors and project managers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with commercial construction, including offices, warehouses, manufacturing buildings, schools, and renovations.
- Background in new construction and interior fit-out projects.
- Familiarity with composite wall systems, metal wall panels, and specialty wall and ceiling systems.
- Experience with insulation installation, including thermal and sound insulation, rigid foam, and fire-resistant materials.
- Exposure to metal composite wall panels and specialty ceilings such as metal and wood systems.
- Comfort working on both private and public projects, with the ability to adapt to project-specific requirements.
- Ability to describe past projects in detail, including framing, doors and hardware, ceilings, and finishing work.
- Willingness to provide references from previous foremen or supervisors to verify skills and experience.
- Mid-level carpentry experience, with the ability to work independently or as part of a crew.
- Familiarity with commercial doors and hardware installation, including frames and associated hardware.
- Experience working with acoustic ceilings and commercial carpentry in occupied or operational facilities.
- Openness to occasional variations in start and end times based on project urgency and site requirements.

Work Environment
Work is primarily on commercial and industrial construction projects, ranging from rough-in through final finish, including interior fit-outs, renovations, and new builds. Projects include offices, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, schools, and other commercial structures. Crews typically range from 1 to 8 members depending on project size and scope, providing opportunities to work both in small teams and larger groups. Most projects are located within the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas such as Berks, Montgomery, Northampton counties, and parts of New Jersey, generally within about an hour of the valley. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, approximately 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., although specific start and end times may vary by job site and project urgency. Work involves extensive use of hand and power tools, metal and wood framing systems, drywall, acoustical ceilings, insulation, and specialty wall and ceiling products. The environment includes both private and public work, with any public project requirements communicated in advance. Field personnel are expected to travel between job sites as needed, bring and maintain their own basic carpentry tools, and work in active construction environments that may involve varying weather conditions and typical construction-site attire and safety gear.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
