Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level IV NICU position at a children's hospital in Washington, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Level III-IV NICU experience and proficiency with ventilator respiratory support.
Details
- 13-week travel contract in a 70-bed Level IV NICU, with a typical census of around 50 patients
- Located within a 152-bed Level II children's hospital with an attached high-risk labor and delivery unit
- NICU features private rooms, with overflow coverage of a Level II Nursery for feeders/growers
- Patient population includes premature infants as early as 22 weeks gestation, RDS, high-risk deliveries, feeders/growers, and NAS; preferred experience with surgical patients and HIE (Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy)
- 12-hour night shifts, with shift times of 1900–0730 or 0700–1930 depending on rotation
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required, with occasional back-to-back weekends possible but rare
- Block scheduling is possible
- Floating is rare but may occur to the ER to serve as a sitter
- No on-call requirements
- EMR: Epic
Requirements
- Active WA state RN license or compact license currently in hand or pending (proof of pending application required)
- Current certifications: BLS and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of Level III or IV NICU experience required
- Proficiency with respiratory support including mechanical ventilators is required
- Experience with NCPAP, UAC/UVC management, PICC lines, NG/OG tubes, G-tubes, medication administration, care planning, and discharge-to-home coordination required
- Tracheostomy experience is highly preferred but not required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- At least one professional reference from a supervisor or above (charge nurse, manager, director, or equivalent) required for consideration; a second reference will be needed prior to start
Additional Information
- Provide complex neonatal nursing care including management of premature and high-risk infants in a high-acuity Level IV NICU
- Surgical and HIE patient experience is preferred
- First-time travelers will be considered, though travel experience is strongly preferred
- Any scrub color is acceptable
