Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This travel opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher to support K-2 students in a non-categorical classroom in Washington, DC. The classroom is designated as a Bridge 2 program, focusing on students who can engage with the general education curriculum with significant modifications to content and pacing. This role requires a skilled educator who can adapt instruction and provide targeted support to foster academic, social, and independence skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering small and whole group instruction aligned with a modified Common Core curriculum
  • Providing explicit social skills instruction throughout the day
  • Utilizing spoken language and assistive technology to support student communication
  • Implementing ABA strategies to enhance motivation and reduce interfering behaviors
  • Collaborating with the IEP team to structure inclusion opportunities in general education settings
  • Maintaining a classroom environment that balances typical general education components with necessary supports

Qualifications:

  • Experience with K-2 students in special education settings
  • Ability to implement individualized modifications and accommodations effectively
  • Familiarity with Bridge 2 classroom models or similar inclusive education practices
  • Knowledge of ABA techniques and assistive technology use in the classroom
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
