About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our hospice care team. This role is central to ensuring that patients and families receive the highest quality of end-of-life care, while maintaining compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for all hospice nursing staff.
- Ensure delivery of patient-centered, compassionate care in alignment with hospice philosophy.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff performance.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (physicians, social workers, chaplains, volunteers).
- Manage staffing schedules, caseload assignments, and on-call rotations.
- Review, implement, and oversee physician orders for medications and treatments.
- Ensure accurate administration, documentation, and monitoring of prescribed medications.
- Coordinate medication management, including reconciliation, patient/family education, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements (Medicare, state licensure, accreditation).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff education programs.
- Serve as a liaison with patients, families, and community partners.

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN required; MSN preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of hospice or palliative care experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of hospice regulations and standards of practice.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
