Position Overview

The Physical Therapist (PT) delivers direct rehabilitation services in physical therapy to patients referred by physicians, adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program, holding a BSPT, MSPT, or DPT (those graduating in 2003 or later must possess an MSPT or DPT)
  • Current registration/licensure in the relevant state, with an obligation to maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment
  • Preferred one (1) year of experience in a post-acute care or similar environment
  • CPR certification required upon hire or to be obtained during orientation; certification must remain current throughout employment

Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Engage in community health initiatives and projects as appropriate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and support departments to effectively address patient needs
  • Consistently demonstrate proper body mechanics
  • Make independent decisions when necessary
  • Possess knowledge of practices, procedures, and regulations governing operations in a post-acute care setting
  • Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Exhibit proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, vendors, and others
  • Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and sensitive information
  • Understand and adhere to organizational policies, including those related to harassment and compliance
  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism by following the organization's Code of Conduct and completing required compliance training

Essential Duties

  • Implement physical therapy treatment plans for patients
  • Set, evaluate, and adjust realistic, measurable, and functional goals
  • Supervise and assess care provided by PTAs, Rehabilitation Aides, and PT and PTA students
  • Document care accurately and in a timely manner
  • Utilize therapy software effectively and accurately
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude towards patients
  • Assist in the safe evacuation of patients when necessary
  • Exhibit reliable and consistent attendance
  • Employ reasoning skills and sound judgment
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving throughout working hours
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
