Position Overview
The Training Manager oversees the comprehensive operations of the training department. This role involves designing and implementing training programs to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, MaineCare, and the Office of Aging and Disability Services. The Training Manager is dedicated to enhancing staff education, equipping employees with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their roles effectively and competently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development: Design and conduct training programs that meet regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
- Staff Supervision: Supervise the Administrative Support Specialist in managing training schedules, programs, compliance, and tracking of education, recordkeeping including but not limited to certifications and licenses.
- Communication: Ensure professional and efficient communication with staff members to foster a collaborative and informed work environment.

Hours/Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8a - 4p, with occasional evening and weekends.
Hourly/Salary Status: Salary Exempt
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design, update, and delivery of training curriculum to enhance the professional development of all staff. Responsible for supervising and managing the training administrative staff, delegating effectively.
- Facilitates agency bi-weekly orientations for new staff.
- Responsible for instructing the Agency’s regularly scheduled First Aid CPR, Safety-Care, Direct Support Professional Certification, etc. classes.
- Responsible for developing, delivering, and implementing training as required by regulations and in situations of emergent agency needs.
- Responsible for maintaining a professional, engaging, and valued learning atmosphere.
- Responsible for collaborating with other departments/programs, working as part of a team to identify the agency's training needs.
- Responsible for facilitating “monthly training forum” meetings, with prepared topics for discussion, distribution of agenda in advance, and documented meeting notes for participants.
- Responsible for reporting the overall departmental training compliance and identifying employees at risk of not meeting required training deadlines.
- Oversite for scheduling training classes and posting agency training schedules
- Responsible for ensuring the submission of training records to applicable State and other regulatory training databases.
- Responsible for being knowledgeable of and up to date on regulations affecting all employees and their training requirements.
- Responsible for utilizing Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype, or other video conferencing and technology-based platforms for delivering live classroom training sessions.
- Responsible for possessing a solid working knowledge of the agency’s learning management system and ensuring that all records are up to date and managed appropriately.
- Work directly with Administrators to accommodate specific training schedule requests.
- Responsible for maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, and organization of the training facility.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Position Competencies (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities):
- Strong computer and technology skills including Microsoft Office applications – thorough experience with power point and ability to leverage technology as a tool for learning.
- Punctual and highly organized, strong attention to details and be willing to work a variety of hours based on employee’s schedules/training needs.
- Professional, motivated, enthusiastic, and able to engage adult learners.
- Experience with overall curriculum as well as course content development and demonstrated professional writing skills.
- Ability to teach in a live classroom setting for classes ranging in length from 30 minutes to 8 hours daily.
- Able to work effectively with people and project Waypoint in a positive way with a passion to help others.
- Able to effectively learn and teach complex information in a wide variety of content areas while adapting to the many learning styles of adult learners.
- Strong interpersonal communications skills and a high level of patience.
- Willing to participate in a variety of trainings that will enhance the professional development of staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Must have or gain Instructor Certifications in First Aid CPR, Safety-Care, Direct Support Professional Certification, Behavior Health Professionals, and any others as determined to support the needs of the Agency.
- Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English.
- Ability to use all Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
Physical Requirements:
Normal degree of flexibility; ability to stand, walk, run, and shuffle for several minutes; kneel on one and two knees and then stand up; bend 45 degree at the trunk and twist to either side; able to grasp firmly; able to raise hands above head, able to lift up to 25 pounds independently using safe body mechanics, daily use of technology/computer screens, ability demonstrate repetitively all Safety-Care physical techniques.
