Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
As a Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineer, you will be an integral part of the North American Engineering organization, working alongside the vehicle production team at the Vehicle Assembly Plant. You will play a crucial role as the 'first line of defense' in ensuring the functional system quality of the products produced at the assembly plant. Your responsibilities will include analyzing and resolving quality issues related to components shipped into the assembly plant, as well as processes within the assembly plant and integrated remote build centers.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Body Engineering team to achieve quality objectives, focusing on Roof Systems and Sealing Systems.
- Conduct daily reviews of incoming warranty claims data and categorize customer and dealership feedback accurately.
- Communicate with dealerships for parts and repair diagnoses and participate in customer callbacks for feedback understanding.
- Review returned parts for root cause analysis and develop Interim Containment and Permanent Corrective Actions.
- Support the assembly plant with Stop Ships/Stop Builds, Campaigns, Audits, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Lead engineering trials and implement running changes for the subsystem.
- Issue engineering Alerts and pursue authorization for product changes to support quality objectives.
- Engage technical experts and functional team members to drive resolutions and develop corrective actions to improve product quality.
- Create presentations for upper management, Vehicle Quality Reviews, and Engineering Managers reviews.
Essential Skills
- 1+ years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- 1+ years of experience working with Sealing Systems and/or Roofing Systems.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Knowledge in manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, and exterior body.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools for documentation and presentation.
- Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills, including root cause identification and analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Understanding of exterior lighting or washer/wiper systems.
- Ability to establish a System Engineering approach to problem solving.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Experience with Warranty systems such as ECB, BSAQ, GSAR.
- Success in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
Work Environment
The role is based on-site in a manufacturing environment. The plant operates with high production demands, especially for popular models, and has added a third crew and increased shifts to meet demand. The facility employs around 2,800 hourly workers and 200 salaried employees.

This is a Contract position based out of Wayne, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.30 - $46.53/hr.
