AlphaHire is recruiting on behalf of a client for a Wastewater Engineer to support water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role focuses on the planning, design, and technical development of wastewater treatment and conveyance systems serving municipal and infrastructure projects.

The position is suited for an engineer who enjoys solving complex environmental and infrastructure challenges while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams. The Wastewater Engineer will contribute to projects from early design through construction support while ensuring compliance with regulatory and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design and support wastewater treatment systems, pumping stations, and collection networks
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction documentation
  • Assist with hydraulic modeling, process design, and system capacity evaluations
  • Coordinate design activities with civil engineers, structural engineers, and project managers
  • Participate in project planning, feasibility studies, and engineering assessments
  • Review construction drawings, RFIs, and contractor submittals during project execution
  • Conduct site visits and field inspections to verify project conditions and design implementation
  • Ensure designs meet local, state, and federal environmental regulations
  • Support project schedules, deliverables, and technical documentation requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 3–8 years of experience in water or wastewater engineering projects
  • Experience with wastewater treatment systems, collection systems, or pump stations
  • Understanding of hydraulic principles and wastewater process design
  • Familiarity with engineering design tools and modeling software used in water infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of environmental and municipal infrastructure regulations
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • EIT certification preferred; PE license or progression toward licensure is a plus
