The Nurse Manager Behavioral Health oversees daily operations within the Behavioral Health Nursing Department, ensuring optimal patient care and effective staff management in an acute care setting. This role includes supervising nursing personnel, coordinating schedules, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and leading quality assurance initiatives. The nurse manager plays a key role in managing care for patients with mood disorders, psychotic disorders, substance abuse, and mixed diagnoses by leveraging electronic health record systems such as Epic, Cerner, and Meditech.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Behavioral Health Nursing Department
- Supervise nursing staff including shift House Supervisors and Charge Nurses
- Coordinate staff scheduling for 8-hour shifts ensuring adequate coverage
- Monitor compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
- Oversee patient care with a focus on crisis intervention and behavioral health needs
- Coordinate training programs and staff development initiatives
- Allocate resources to support departmental objectives and patient care
- Implement quality assurance processes to enhance service delivery
- Lead and motivate the nursing team fostering effective communication and collaboration
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years as a Nursing Manager, supervisor, or Clinical Team Lead in a Behavioral Health Unit within acute care.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
