A day in the life
- Start the day reviewing work orders, gathering tools, and mapping your route.
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair home standby generators and related gear such as transfer switches and battery systems.
- Perform routine maintenance—oil and filter changes, fluid checks, and general tune-ups.
- Support load bank testing and conduct performance assessments to verify system readiness.
- Assist with installing and commissioning new generators and related electrical systems.
- Document work performed, parts used, and recommendations for customers.
- Keep vehicles, tools, and job sites clean, orderly, and safe.
- Follow manufacturer procedures and safety protocols at every step.
- Replace conduit and wiring when needed to bring systems up to standard.
- Participate in training and keep up with technical publications to stay current.
- Pitch in on special projects and complete related tasks that support team goals.
What you bring
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or military experience is a plus.
- 1+ year servicing residential generators.
- Comfort with hand tools and electrical testing instruments.
- Coachability and willingness to learn from senior technicians.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strength and stamina to handle heavy equipment and work indoors/outdoors and in noisy settings.
- OSHA 10/30 preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a knack for solving problems.
- Solid preventive and corrective maintenance abilities.
- High standards, integrity, and pride in your workmanship.

Compliance and screening
- Able to pass a drug screening and background check (random testing may occur)
Where and when you’ll work
- Combination of field and shop-based work; frequent travel to customer homes.
- Occasional evenings or weekends during emergencies or outages.
Physical requirements
- Color vision to interpret color-coded wiring.
- Comfort standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders or scaffolding for extended periods.
- Ability to pull wires and cables through conduit.
