• Hours: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM

• Weekend & Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and some holidays required

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Mental Health Therapy Aides to support a Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit. The ideal candidate will have prior inpatient psychiatric experience and demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and patient-care skills. Pediatric experience is preferred.

This role involves providing both direct and indirect patient care in an acute behavioral health setting while maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment for patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care under nursing supervision

• Take and record vital signs accurately and in a timely manner

• Assist with patient admissions, documentation, and physical examinations

• Collect specimens and monitor patient intake and output

• Transport patients safely within the facility

• Orient new patients to unit rules, routines, and expectations

• Assist patients with hygiene and activities of daily living (ADLs)

• Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients

• Interact therapeutically with patients during structured and unstructured activities

• Intervene appropriately during crisis situations to ensure patient safety

• Perform safety checks on assigned shifts

• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive unit environment

• Observe, document, and report patient responses to treatments

• Communicate patient data clearly and promptly to nursing staff

• Participate in unit-based activities and support nursing unit operations

Required Qualifications

• Current CPR certification (required)

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Mental Health Therapy Aide or similar role

• Psychiatric experience required

• Experience in an inpatient behavioral health setting preferred

• Experience working with pediatric or adolescent populations preferred

• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems

• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills

• Ability to function independently with minimal supervision

• Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills

• Ability to apply age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate clinical interventions

• Attention to safety, detail, and documentation accuracy
