Job Description

Operates and maintains assorted underground construction equipment and vehicles in the transportation, placement, maintenance, support and removal of assorted communication cable facilities.

Knowledge to read and interpret facility blueprints and follow job specifications.

Responsible for daily equipment maintenance, and communication with the company’s full time mechanic and the crew foreman or supervisor.

Responsible for periodic vehicle maintenance report i.e., gas, oil, tire pressure, lights, etc.

Responsible for company tools and materials loaded on his vehicle, and the ability to assist the foreman in preparation of the day’s activities.

Knowledge of all standard manhole, trench, and boring safety procedures.

Knowledge of how to operate all underground equipment properly, productively, and safely, i.e. trencher, backhoe, directional boring machine, and all necessary vehicles and trailers to transport same.

Is capable of also performing the responsibilities of the laborer for an underground crew.
