Job Summary Under general supervision, this position supports City communications operations through video production and the creation of multimedia content. Responsibilities include developing content for the City's website, publications, public relations initiatives, and marketing materials. The role requires independent judgment, particularly in situations where policies or procedures are not clearly defined and involves handling confidential or sensitive information while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Normal Shift: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Shift start and end times may vary based on production and event needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support departmental operations related to multimedia communications and production tasks
- Design and create custom graphics for video, digital animation, presentations, and other communication platforms
- Operate audiovisual equipment (cameras, microphones, switchers, lighting) in both studio and field environments; may serve independently, on a team, or as lead on production shoots
- Edit, duplicate, and manage digital video, audio, and photo files
- Provide basic troubleshooting and technical support for production equipment
- Assist with on-air scheduling, show capture, and media file maintenance
- Develop multimedia content including photography, video, news releases, City publications, website content, and social media
- Support and assist with live meeting production, including multi-camera operation and video distribution, as well as other critical functions for live meetings
- Captures and masters professional quality videos for distribution to internal and external customers
- Provide communications support for City events and initiatives
- Serve on the Emergency Response Team during disaster incidents, as needed
- Perform all work in compliance with established safety standards
- Complete additional duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a US citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
- A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or other closely related field of study and two (2) years' experience in video production work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that includes a minimum of two (2) years' experience in video production work.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and good knowledge of the English language and grammar.
- Must have ability to express ideas and concepts visually. Motor Vehicle Operator's license valid in the state of Missouri.
- Ability to lift and handle a minimum of 50 lbs. for sustained periods.
Desired Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or other closely related field of study and three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Experience in video production, animation, multimedia and photography experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Adobe creative apps.
- Proficiency in Windows Operating System.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premier Pro.
- Working knowledge of Macintosh and desktop publishing.
