Position description expires one year from effective date unless renewed after one year. Renewals are effective in one-year increments.
Position Purpose: The Peer Specialist is an important member within the Behavioral Health department. The focus of care is to assist in helping consumers identify goals and make choices to promote resiliency and facilitate recovery. The Peer Specialist will assist fellow consumers and team members guide and support individuals served in the CSU throughout recovery, focusing on the areas of individual and family living, learning, working, relapse prevention/aftercare and socialization.
Position Requirements / Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. WRAP (Wellness and Recovery Action Plan) Certifies facilitator or become certified within 6 months of hire. Bilingual a plus. Previous or current recipient of mental health and/or substance abuse services.
Licensure/ Certification:
Maintain current CPR certification from the American Heart Association. Must have a valid Florida Driver's License.
Skills / Ability:
Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Supervision provided to position:
Direct supervision is provided by the Coordinator of Comprehensive Services, to the degree to which it is evaluated on an individual basis.
