Food Service Worker

School Term

PRIMARY FUNCTION: To provide a variety of nutritional foods for students breakfast and dinner meals. Engage in preparing food portion and cooking food consumption as recommended by the USDA. Insures daily or weekly food need and place orders of food supplies on kitchen food list form.

QUALIFICATION:


  1. High School Diploma or equivalent

  2. At least three years of related experience of an equivalent combination of training and experience

  3. Ability to develop, follow menu plan and conduct schedule

  4. Must have knowledge of modem food service

  5. Must have a Food Handlers Permit

  6. Must have a Valid New Mexico Driver's License and current motor vehicle

  7. Ability to communicate effectively oral, verbal and in writing. Demonstrate effective human relation

  8. Ability to pass a background

  9. Must have CPR and First Aide

  10. Must be willing to work additional of overtime hours on

INDIAN PREFERENCE: Preferential consideration for employment given to persons of documented Navajo, American Indian or Alaskan Native Tribal membership who meet the qualifications above, in accordance with the requirements of P.L. 100-297 and the Navajo Nation Tribal Code.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Supports and efficiently carries out responsibilities in accordance with Kinteel Residential Campus, policies and procedures.

  2. Provide professional services to students and guests and greeting them courteously, determines and handles their needs and directs or escorts them to proper

  3. Responsible for selecting and developing recipes based on type of food to be prepared in accordance with the meal plan and applying personal knowledge and experience in food

  4. Responsible for ensuring the preparation and delivery of sack lunches, sick trays, special meals

  5. Responsible for effective food substitution and assurance of properly prepared

  6. Responsible for serving meals and assisting with sanitation and



  1. Ensures quality and quantity of food inventory meet established standards and

  2. Responsible for preparing, cooking and serving meat, sauces, vegetables, soups and other traditional foods including any preparation of dessert, pastries, confections and ice

  3. Cuts, trims and bone meat and poultry for cooking as provided for in the meal

  4. Ensures portions of cooked food and safeguard methods of (Decorate or dress up).

  5. Ensures food is appetizing, creative and nutritionally suitable when served to

  6. Aprons, hair-nets, caps, chef hats are required to be worn by school cafeteria cook and assigned food service

  7. Food services are subject to inspection at any time by the Navajo Nation and New

Mexico Environmental Health Department.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Short term Full Time Employment Contract per 90 day probationary period effective upon employment. Thereafter, a School Term Full Time Employment contract renewable annually by Board of Trustees with recommendation by Director as per Job Performance Evaluation. Hourly pay rate set on a scale based on qualification, education and experience. Employee works 40 hours per week. Summer Contract Work Available

  1. Accuracy, completeness and timelines of KRCI records

  2. Attitude toward fellow KRCI employees, students, parents, guest and Board of

  3. Quality of communication with KRCI employees, students, parents, guest and Board of Trustees

  4. Attendance record for schedule work hours

  5. Meet and greet parents, students and guests appearing at random or as scheduled

  6. Ensuring that food is appetizing, creative, nutritious and edible by the

WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent interaction with staff, students, parents, and guests. Frequent long periods of standing at stove, sink or kitchen equipment. Moderate and high interruptions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to perform job requirements as listed above. Clean and presentably groom in a manner that you will represent the quality representation of Kinteel Residential Campus, Inc. Appropriate nice attire is recommended for all employees.
