Job Description
This role focuses on the mechanical assembly of heavy equipment components, including chassis, electromechanical systems, side body components, and electrical wiring. You will read and interpret blueprints and work instructions, use a wide range of hand and power tools, and ensure high-quality, precise assembly in a clean and safe production environment.
Responsibilities
- Assemble heavy equipment components, including chassis, body, and side body structures, according to blueprints and work instructions.
- Install and connect electrical wiring and electromechanical components on heavy equipment and truck bodies.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and tape-measure-based work instructions to perform accurate assembly.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, including impact wrenches, sockets, and wrenches, to complete mechanical assembly tasks.
- Perform hydraulic hose assembly and assist with routing and securing hoses and related components.
- Follow assembly line procedures to maintain consistent quality and meet production targets.
- Inspect completed assemblies for proper fit, alignment, and function, and make adjustments or repairs as needed.
- Apply basic knowledge of engines, diesel systems, pneumatics, and electrical components to support assembly and troubleshooting.
- Support preventive maintenance and minor repair activities on equipment and tools as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve assembly issues and continuously improve processes.
- Demonstrate reliability by working assigned shifts and completing training on the designated first shift prior to moving to third or weekend shifts.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and interest in mechanical assembly and repair.
- Proficient use of hand and power tools, including impact wrenches, sockets, and wrenches.
- Ability to read and interpret tape measures and blueprint-style work instructions.
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality and accurate assembly.
- Willingness to train, learn new tasks, and follow standardized work processes.
- Experience using tools such as 1/2 inch impact, 3/4 impact, 3/8 impact, 1 inch impact, 9 mm wrench, 19 mm extensions, and 19 mm sockets.
- Capability to perform hydraulic hose assembly and related tasks.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems related to heavy machinery, vehicles, or construction equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in an assembly line environment and meet production goals.
- Strong commitment to safety and maintaining a clean work area.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in heavy machinery or construction equipment assembly or maintenance.
- Background in vehicle maintenance, automotive service, or automotive repair.
- Familiarity with diesel engines, engine repair, and diesel engine components.
- Exposure to preventive maintenance practices on mechanical or electrical equipment.
- Experience working with pneumatics and basic electrical systems.
- Ability to read and understand schematics in addition to blueprints.
- Experience in construction, repair work, or related trades using hand tools and power tools.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing or assembly line environment.

Work Environment
This position is based in a non-temperature-controlled facility that is described as very comfortable, clean, and safe. The environment is production-focused with assembly line processes and involves regular use of hand and power tools such as impact wrenches, sockets, wrenches, and equipment for hydraulic hose assembly. You will work around heavy equipment, vehicle components, diesel and engine systems, pneumatics, and electrical assemblies. Third shift hours are typically 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with initial training on first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. before moving to third shift. Weekend shift hours run from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with training also conducted on first shift for the first two weeks. The facility promotes safe work practices, organized workstations, and a professional atmosphere suitable for industrial and mechanical assembly work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of LaFayette, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $21.00/hr.
