Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity involves working as a Special Education Teacher for K-2nd grade students in a multicategorical, self-contained classroom. The classroom team includes one teacher and two paraprofessionals, supporting a caseload of seven students with developmental delays and autism. This contract position is based in Williamsburg, VA, and runs from ASAP through May 28, 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction to students in grades K-2 with diverse disabilities
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals to implement IEPs tailored to students with developmental delays and autism
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with families and support staff
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
Qualifications:
- Active Special Education (SPED) license in Virginia is required
- Experience working with young children (kindergarten through 2nd grade) in special education settings
- Familiarity with multicategorical and self-contained classroom models
- Ability to work collaboratively within a teaching team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Position Details:
- Location: Williamsburg, VA
- Contract duration: Immediate start through 5/28/2025
- 37.5 hours per week, 5 days per week
- Caseload: 7 students
