Travel Pharmacist (Night Shift) – Clinical / Hospital Setting

Location - Houston, TX

Job Type: Contract (Travel)

Shift: Night Shift – 7 on / 7 off (7:30 PM – 7:30 AM)

Schedule: 5x8 Hour Shifts / 40 Hours Guaranteed

Job Overview


We are seeking a dedicated Travel Pharmacist to promote high-quality pharmaceutical care in a hospital setting. This role focuses on managing the medication use process, preventing and resolving drug-related problems, and ensuring safe and effective medication therapy for patients across all age groups (neonatal to adult).


Key Responsibilities

Review and verify medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness based on:

Diagnosis

Weight / Body Surface Area

Allergies

Drug interactions

Accurately enter medication orders into the system

Ensure correct medication dispensing with zero tolerance for errors

Deliver medications within established timelines and guidelines

Maintain compliance with medication safety standards and protocols

Prepare sterile products using proper aseptic technique

Enforce infection control standards among pharmacy staff and technicians

Participate in quality assurance and peer review processes

Maintain annual competency and achieve at least 90% on aseptic/infection control assessments


Required Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. (Doctor of Pharmacy)


Licensure:

Active, valid, and unrestricted RPH (Registered Pharmacist) license – State of Texas


Experience:

Minimum 2+ years of hospital pharmacist experience preferred

Experience in medication preparation and sterile compounding preferred

Certifications / Training:

At least 20 hours of sterile compounding training accredited by:

Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), or

American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)


Core Skills

Strong clinical judgment in medication therapy management

Attention to detail and accuracy in order verification and dispensing

Knowledge of sterile compounding and aseptic techniques

Ability to identify and prevent medication-related issues
