Duration: 11 WeeksSchedule:
- Shift: Day Shift (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, includes 45-minute break)
- Days: Monday – Friday (5x8 hours)
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
Compensation:
- Local Pay: $80 – $90/hour (based on experience)
- Travel Pay: $90 – $105/hour (based on experience)
Additional Pay Details:
- Overtime: 1.4x after 40 hours/week
- Holiday: 1.5x
- Call: Minimal (0.1%) | Call Back: 1.4x
- Charge Differential: $2.00
- Orientation: 8 hours unpaid + 8 hours at 70%
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Pathologist Assistant to support surgical pathology operations in a hospital laboratory setting. The role involves performing gross examination and dissection of specimens, assisting pathologists in diagnostic processes, and ensuring accurate specimen handling and documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Perform gross examination and dissection of complex surgical specimens.
- Handle and process small biopsy specimens.
- Accession, label, and manage pathology specimens accurately.
- Prepare tissue samples for histological processing and sectioning.
- Document macroscopic findings and maintain detailed records.
- Ensure proper specimen fixation, handling, and storage.
- Capture specimen photography (gross and microscopic).
- Review patient clinical information including labs and imaging.
- Assist in training pathology residents in gross room procedures.
- Maintain compliance with laboratory protocols, safety, and quality standards.

Required Qualifications:
Experience:
- 0–3 years of pathology experience required
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited Pathologist Assistant program (NAACLS or equivalent)
Licensure & Certifications:
- Active New York State Pathologist Assistant License required
- ASCP Certification (preferred)
- Fellow of the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants (AAPA) (preferred)
Additional Requirements:
- Experience with EPIC charting system required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
Facility Requirements:
