We are looking for a hands-on Maintenance & Equipment Operator to support day-to-day operations and perform maintenance and repairs at our Houston recycling facility.

This is a non-supervisory, hands-on role responsible for keeping the plant running safely and efficiently by operating equipment, troubleshooting issues, and performing maintenance. This position works closely with plant leadership and team members to support production and minimize downtime.

This position is based in Houston, TX and reports directly to the General Manager.

Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Occasional weekend work may be required based on production needs, equipment issues, or facility demands

Responsibilities

Production & Operations

• Support daily plant operations to keep material moving safely and efficiently.
• Assist in meeting production goals with minimal downtime.
• Work alongside team members to maintain steady production flow.
• Identify and report operational issues and assist in resolving them.
• Operate forklifts and front-end loaders as needed to support production.

Hands-On Maintenance

• Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs on recycling equipment including balers, conveyors, forklifts, and front-end loaders.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues.
• Perform routine inspections, servicing, and preventive maintenance.
• Perform basic welding and fabrication repairs.
• Assist with general building and yard maintenance.

Safety

• Follow all safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Use proper PPE and follow lockout/tagout procedures.
• Report safety concerns or hazards promptly.

Logistics & Coordination

• Assist with coordinating inbound and outbound loads.
• Ensure materials are handled and staged properly.

Business Support

• Assist with maintenance scheduling and equipment upkeep.
• Support efforts to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.

Competencies

• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills with industrial equipment.
• Experience operating forklifts and front-end loaders safely.
• Basic welding and fabrication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic and reliability in a hands-on environment.
• Good communication skills.

Education / Experience

• Recycling, manufacturing, or industrial experience required.
• Hands-on maintenance experience with heavy equipment preferred.
• Experience operating forklifts/loaders required or strongly preferred.
• Basic welding experience preferred.
• Previous experience in operator or technician roles preferred.

Physical Demands

This role frequently requires sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands to handle materials or controls. Regular activities include walking, standing, and occasional stooping or reaching. The position involves lifting items up to 50 pounds.
