Nitro-Phos Fertilizer, Inc. - a leading provider of horticultural products and supplies, is seeking a motivated and organized Assistant Buyer to join our purchasing team. The Assistant Buyer will play a key role in generating literature for our product catalogue, creating product costings, and supporting the purchasing of materials for our distribution process.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the purchasing and marketing teams to develop and update product literature for our catalogue.
- Assist in identifying and evaluating potential suppliers and vendors for horticultural products and materials.
- Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring accurate pricing, quantities, and delivery dates.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and pricing when appropriate.
- Monitor inventory levels, coordinating with the purchasing team to replenish stock as needed.
- Analyze sales trends and customer demand to identify opportunities for new products or promotions.
- Assist in creating and maintaining product costings, working closely with the finance team to ensure accuracy.
- Participate in industry events, trade shows, and educational opportunities to stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in the horticulture industry.
Qualifications:
- A relevant Bachelor's degree is nice, but not required!
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or a related role within the horticulture industry.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with experience in inventory management or procurement software preferred.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of horticultural products and materials, as well as industry trends and best practices.
- Willingness to travel to industry events and trade shows as needed.
- Experience with product costing and financial analysis is a plus.
