Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining general ledger integrity, supporting month-end close processes, preparing financial reports, and assisting with regulatory compliance specific to home health and hospice services. Working closely with the finance team and operational leadership, the Staff Accountant ensures that all accounting activities align with industry regulations, payer requirements, and internal policies.


Essential Duties:

· Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accurate entry of daily financial transactions and oversight of accounts payable/receivable.

· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, prepare journal entries, accruals, and other financial documentation.

· Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash activity daily.

· Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules to enhance business operations.

· Support compliance activities, including preparation for audits, adherence to regulatory requirements, and provide assistance with tax filings.

· Contribute to operational efficiency by recommending and assisting in the implementation of accounting process improvements.

· Leverage Excel and accounting systems to perform data analytics; create reports and dashboards that provide insights into financial trends, revenue/cost drivers, and operational performance.

· Collaborate with team members, clinical staff, and leadership on ad hoc projects and financial analysis.

· Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis; provide finance-related support for departmental initiatives.

· Perform additional accounting and analytic duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager.

· Maintain confidentiality of patient and company financial data at all times.

· Other duties as assigned


Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.

· 0-2 years of accounting experience preferred

· Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis tools) is required.

· Strong analytic skills and the ability to interpret and present financial data is required; must have a strong attention to detail.

· Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills are required.

· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
