A specialized opportunity is available for a registered nurse with pediatric oncology and hematology expertise, offering a rewarding travel assignment in Winston-Salem, NC. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert nursing care to pediatric hem/oncology and adolescent medicine patients, managing complex cases including leukemia, solid tumors, sickle cell crises, and other chronic conditions.
  • Administer chemotherapy medications safely, utilizing advanced pediatric assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Manage central lines and monitor patient status using technologies such as Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell dispensing systems.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team including physicians, CNAs, respiratory therapists, and support staff to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Participate in departmental orientation and uphold unit culture focused on teamwork, family-centered care, professional growth, and safety.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum one year of experience in pediatric hematology/oncology acute care or pediatric acute care.
  • Required certifications: BLS and PALS preferred; APHON and chemotherapy certification required for Pediatric Hem/Oncology.
  • Strong skills in central line management, chemotherapy administration, and critical pediatric nursing assessments.
  • Comfortable working 12-hour days with a 7a-7p shift schedule on a 6-week rotation, including every other weekend and 75% of holidays.

Additional Information:

  • Patient-to-nurse ratios range from 3-4 in Peds Hem/Oncology to 4-5 in Adolescent Medicine.
  • Supportive department with CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomists, IV/VAT teams, and full physician coverage 24/7.
  • Free parking provided, with the option to wear pediatric-appropriate royal blue scrubs.
  • Orientation includes a two-day departmental process, no on-call requirements, and no required travel restrictions (RTO: NM).
