Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Manager for an LDRP/Family Birthing Center (FBC) leadership role in an acute care hospital setting, requiring active CA RN licensure and L&D management experience.
Details
- Acute care hospital LDRP/Family Birthing Center (FBC) unit with 8 beds
- Low-to-moderate acuity labor and delivery unit, including C-sections (no VBACs), outpatient stress tests, and postpartum follow-ups such as bili checks
- Unit does not retain high-acuity mothers or babies, but transport challenges and patients presenting too far along to transfer prior to delivery can occur
- No dedicated 24/7 anesthesia — anesthesia is a shared single resource after hours with the main OR
- Cerner EMR in use
- 8-hour day shifts, including weekends and call
- Leadership call responsibility for the department
- First to float
- 13-week assignment
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- L&D experience required; experience in a rural setting with limited resources strongly preferred
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS, Advanced AWHONN, and S.T.A.B.L.E. preferred but not required
- Nurse Manager or supervisory experience required
- Driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Serves as the Department Nurse Manager, overseeing the LDRP/FBC unit
- Professional attire required; no scrubs specified for this management role
- Facility-wide orientation takes place in Sacramento — not at the local hospital site
- Travelers are expected to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's — holiday time off requests will be considered but are not guaranteed
- Candidates must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam before an offer can be confirmed
- A pass/fail test on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is administered on the first day of orientation
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
