As a Lab Technician, you will perform chemical and instrumental analysis on fuels, oils, and other lubricants using ASTM standard testing methods. You will analyze new samples, prepare solutions or solvents for various tests, and transfer samples within the lab. You will also maintain workbooks and equipment on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis according to SOP and TIP test procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform chemical and instrumental analysis on fuels, oils, and lubricants using ASTM standard testing methods.
- Analyze new samples introduced to the lab.
- Prepare solutions or solvents for various tests.
- Transfer samples from one area to another within the lab.
- Maintain workbooks and lab equipment regularly according to SOP and TIP test procedures.
Essential Skills
- Experience in a lab environment.
- Sample preparation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to wash and maintain glassware.
- Familiarity with basic lab safety.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- One year of college chemistry and math or one year of related laboratory experience.
- Ability to lift and transport 50 lbs.
- Training provided through hands-on shadowing.
- Recent associate degree in science or recent lab experience through school is advantageous.
Work Environment
You will work in an industrial lab setting focused on research related to automotive products. The lab environment may have a fuel/oil smell due to the nature of the samples. PPE is provided for safety. The position involves shift work, from 6 AM to 3 PM, 8 AM to 5 PM, or 3 PM to 11 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work.

This is a Contract position based out of San Antonio, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.50 - $15.50/hr.
