About the Role:
As a Life Skills Coach, you will provide more than just care. Youll be a mentor, friend, and advocate, making a lasting difference in the lives of people with IDD.
- Life Skills Coaching: Teach and support daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, and practicing good hygiene.
- Relationship Building: Foster deep connections by offering a safe space where support, understanding and growth can make a true difference in their lives.
- Mentorship: Build strong relationships and provide participants with opportunities to consider all options available to them when making life choices. Interactions should be free of judgement and the personal agenda of the coach.
- Advocacy: Empower participants to make healthy decisions and advocate for themselves.
- Transportation: Safely transport participants to and from appointments or activities.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records and notes in a timely manner.
Expected Outcomes:
Within 15 Days:
- Acquaint yourself with Stepping Stone's approach to empowering individuals with IDD.
- Build trust and rapport with your participants to understand their unique needs and challenges.
Within 30 Days:
- Initiate small, participant-specific changes aimed at improving their self-sufficiency and engagement in their home and community.
- Develop personalized, short-term goals that align with each participants abilities and aspirations.
Within 45 Days:
- Monitor and record improvements and milestones achieved by participants and refine your approach as needed.
- Document tangible progress in participants workplace skills, social interactions, or other predefined metrics.
Need to Have:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and proof of current auto insurance
- No more than two Type B traffic violations within the last three (3) years and zero Type A violations within the last three (3) years
- Previous experience or a strong desire to work with an at-risk population
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Working computer for record-keeping and documentation
Physical Requirements:
- Assist with activities of daily living
- Support mobility and transfers
- Assist with personal care
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Perform bending, kneeling, and reaching
- Support evacuations and safety procedures
- Maintain CPR certification and be able to perform CPR on the ground
- Be physically able to respond quickly in emergency situations
Nice to Have:
- Previous experience in life skills coaching or as a home health aide or direct-care provider
Schedule:
- Part-time hours - about 25 hrs./wk. plus opportunities to pick up "subbing" hours
- Hours will be scheduled between Monday - Saturday, between 8:00-6:00 p.m.
Location: Littleton/Morrison/Lakewood/Englewood/Highlands Ranch, CO area
Pay Rate:
- $20/hr.
