Job DescriptionControls Engineer Controls Engineer - Industrial AutomationAbout the Role

The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting automated systems used in manufacturing and industrial operations. This role combines hands-on engineering with problem solving to ensure equipment runs safely, efficiently, and reliably. You will work with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to take automation projects from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for automated equipment and industrial processes

  • Develop control system architectures, including hardware specifications, network layouts, and panel designs

  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and documentation using industry-standard tools

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation or control system design

  • Proficiency with major PLC platforms (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, Mitsubishi)

  • Experience with HMI/SCADA development tools (FactoryTalk View, Ignition, WinCC, etc.)

  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, OPC UA)

  • Familiarity with VFDs, servo systems, sensors, and industrial networking

  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics and panel layouts

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a methodical approach to problem solving

  • Willingness to travel for commissioning and field support as needed
