Job Description

The Organization:

Denver Christian exists to inspire and equip students to engage the world with Christ’s transforming power and love. Rooted in a reformed view of Christian education, DC partners with families and the churches these families attend to nurture the whole child, spiritually, cognitively, physically, creatively, personally, and socially, preparing students to live out their faith with confidence, compassion, and purpose.

The Position:

The Middle School Principal provides spiritual, academic, and operational leadership for grades 6–8. This leader fosters a culture of excellence, belonging, and Christ-centered growth where students thrive in faith, learning, and community. The ideal candidate is both a visionary educator and a relational shepherd — deeply committed to Jesus, passionate about middle school learners, and skilled in guiding teachers, students, and families through these formative years.

Opportunities and Challenges:

Spiritual and Community Leadership

  • Model a vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and cultivate a spiritually formative environment for students and staff.
  • Build a culture of belonging, joy, and respect grounded in the school’s vision and six spheres of whole-child growth.
  • Engage daily with students, teachers, and families to strengthen community and model Christlike relationships.
  • Provides oversight of spiritual formation practices and programming that help students grow as God worshipers and shalom restorers.
  • Advance curricular innovation and program excellence by collaborating with colleagues across divisions to ensure continuity, creativity, and alignment in students’ educational journeys from elementary through high school.

Academic and Faculty Leadership

  • Provide visionary oversight for all aspects of the middle school program, ensuring academic excellence and alignment with DC’s Christian mission and vision.
  • Collaborate with faculty to design biblically integrated, developmentally appropriate, and engaging curriculum and instruction.
  • Listen well, honor the professional expertise of educators, and support their continued growth through coaching, evaluation, and encouragement.
  • Partner closely with the administrative team to ensure alignment across divisions and effective communication with parents and staff.

Organizational and Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations, schedules, student discipline, and safety to maintain a well-ordered, joyful school environment.
  • Build and sustain strong partnerships with parents, fostering transparency and trust.
  • Participate as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, enrollment growth, and the ongoing advancement of Denver Christian School.
  • Lead with both empathy and decisiveness, making difficult decisions with wisdom, clarity, and alignment to mission and vision.

Qualifications:

  • A mature and vibrant Christian faith that supports a Reformed biblical worldview and active participation in a local church.
  • Master's degree in Education, Leadership, or related field strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of educational experience, including substantial leadership experience within a middle school setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in a high-growth or change-oriented educational environment, balancing vision with operational excellence.
  • Proven ability to develop and inspire faculty and staff teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Deep alignment with Denver Christian School’s mission, vision, values, and six spheres of growth.

Attributes of a Successful Candidate

  • Spiritually grounded and emotionally mature servant leader.
  • Relationally warm, approachable, and invested in students’ growth.
  • Visionary yet practical — able to translate mission and vision into measurable outcomes.
  • Passionate about the unique spiritual, academic, and emotional needs of middle school students.
  • Joyful, humble, and collaborative in leadership.
