A growing construction team is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support preconstruction and bidding efforts across a diverse portfolio of projects in New York City. This role is responsible for developing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, and collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure competitive and comprehensive bids.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals based on drawings, specifications, and project scope
  • Perform quantity take-offs and pricing using industry-standard methods and software
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure complete and competitive coverage
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and contract documents to identify risks and opportunities
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers during the preconstruction phase
  • Maintain and update cost databases, historical data, and unit pricing
  • Assist in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs without compromising quality
  • Track and manage bid schedules, ensuring timely submission of proposals
  • Prepare scope clarifications, qualifications, and bid breakdowns
  • Support negotiations and post-bid reviews as needed
  • Ensure compliance with NYC building codes, regulations, and industry standards
  • Experience working on public-sector projects, including NYC School Construction Authority (SCA), is a plus

Qualifications:

  • 3–7+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in NYC
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Sage, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar tools)
  • Ability to perform detailed quantity take-offs and cost analysis independently
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with NYC construction practices, permitting, and compliance requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
