Job Summary

The purpose of the bartender position is to interact with our guest and ensure they have an exceptional experience while dining at The Hub. Bartenders are responsible for positive guest interactions, serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner and to anticipate guest needs. Bartenders are expected to remain positive, warm and welcoming at all times; both with our guest and all other Hub employees. Bartenders are expected to accurately mix and serve beverages to guests in a friendly and efficient manner while still abiding by all alcohol and beverage laws/standards.


Major Responsibilities/Activities

  • Stay updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations.
  • Knowing and educating yourself on our drink and beverage options including coffee, wine, beer, and liquor; as well as staying informed on any product changes, dietary ingredients, allergens, etc.
  • Greet guests, take beverage orders from guests.
  • Check identification of guests to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
  • Mix drinks, cocktails and all other bar beverages as ordered and in compliance with The Hub standards.
  • Open, prepare and close the bar; including, but not limited to: sanitizing floors and all surfaces, tables, chairs, bar top, etc. and any other reasonable task assigned to you by a member of management.
  • Handle an assigned house cash drawer and follow all cash handling procedures and count change back.
  • Operate the POS system.
  • Ensure that the assigned bar area is fully equipped with tools and products needed for mixing beverages and serving guests, preparing inventory or requesting orders as needed to replenish supplies.
  • Maintain a clean working area by sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning of walls, lights, fixtures, furnishings, floors, bar top, chairs, bottles, etc.
  • Assisting with special events and promotions as needed.
  • Adhere to uniform, grooming and appearance standards consistently.


Minimum Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous restaurant/bar experience required
  • Excellent oral communication skills required
  • Positive interpersonal skills required
  • Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English
  • Basic spirit knowledge and the desire to expand that knowledge


Essential Physical Functions

  • Ability to speak and hear
  • Close and distant vision
  • Frequent walking with some standing at times
  • Will walk for long periods of time, possibly extended distances
  • Frequently lifts/carries up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally lifts/carries up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stop repeatedly


Working Conditions

  • May be indoor or outdoor setting
  • Varied weather conditions are expected
  • Will work near moving or mechanical parts
  • May work near toxic/caustic chemicals and with fumes or airborne particles
  • Varying Schedule to include evenings, holidays and extended hours as business dictates
