Description:

The Configurable CAD Contractor is responsible for developing a CAD configurator for residential exterior doors by designing smart CAD models for each door component and the slab assembly to streamline the configuration of door designs, enabling precise and efficient generation of part numbers, engineering BOMs, and relevant documentation and imagery across all slab constructions.

Responsibilities include:

Smart CAD Models Development:
Confirm the existing or develop and integrate new smart CAD models for each component of the door and ensure that each model is fully functional within the Autodesk Inventor environment.
These models must contain all relevant metadata and be capable of intelligent behavior, such as automatic updates, full parameterization, and data synchronization across connected assemblies and drawings.

Creation of Slab Assembly:
Assemble a comprehensive model state slab assembly comprised of model state subassemblies, including one subassembly for the door frame, facing, lock blocks, internal components, and miscellaneous components.

Configuration of iParts:
Configure iParts within the model state subassembly to contain essential metadata such as part number, description, drawing number, and item quantity per unit.
This information should be readily accessible by the final assembly to ensure efficient management and retrieval.

Bill of Materials (BOM) Integration:
Ensure the final assembly maintains accurate BOM item numbers for each part across all model states.
The BOM should be dynamic and automatically updated to reflect any changes in the assembly or individual parts.
The assembly must have the correct layout upon initial placement without requiring manual edits.

Manual and Automated Configuration Switching:

If time permits, implement iLogic to automate configuration changes to switch between predefined variations.
If time permits, implement iLogic to automate configuration changes using VBA scripting to improve the UI and user experience.

Education:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.

Experience:
Experience with 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred with knowledge of iParts, Model States, and iLogic SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar also acceptable).
Basic programming knowledge (e.g. Python, MATLAB, C++, or VBA).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to automation, scripting, or parametric design in CAD software.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, 3D printing, or sheet metal design. #ZR
