Focusing on improving and maintaining gastrointestinal health, each patient’s care is managed by our impressive team of nationally recognized physicians who are all leaders in the field of gastroenterology.

This is a full-time position, inclusive of both clinical and administrative duties. It is based in our Mercy Blvd location. Duties include:

  • Reviews, manages, and accurately disperses incoming procedure referrals and recalls
  • Contacts patients with outstanding colonoscopy referrals/recalls and maintains appropriate, required documentation of any communication and/or communication efforts
  • Verifies and updates patient demographic information, inclusive of insurance plan, address, pharmacy, etc.
  • Manage medical clearance review for incoming colon cancer screening referrals (Direct Access Colonoscopy) and past due procedure recalls (including but not limited to EGD’s, Colonoscopies, and flex sig’s)
  • Apply medical clearance criteria to PHI obtained via documentation from referring provider/patient and/or telehealth appointment with patient
  • Determine if the patient is medically cleared for procedure scheduling or if they require a clinic visit for medical evaluation prior to procedure
  • Schedule office visit for patient if needed or schedule specialty procedure for patient (scheduling is inclusive of calling in prep, collecting any outstanding balance, and going over prep instructions)

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of High School Diploma required
  • Clinical experience preferred
  • CCMA or equivalent required
  • Procedure and/or surgery scheduling experience preferred

Skills and Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of medical terminology
  • Clinical decision-making skills
  • Experience with insurance benefits and eligibility
  • Proficiency in using computer software (MS excel, Practice Management systems, EHR)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients and staff
  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT codes
