Location: McLean, VA (Tysons) | Hybrid Schedule
Assignment Type: Contract | 6 months with potential to extend
Compensation: $55-60/hour
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Description:
Addison Group is hiring for a Senior Accountant with strong program control and government contracting experience to support a high-impact accounting team in the Tysons area. This role will be responsible for core accounting functions including close support, journal entries, reconciliations, and revenue recognition, while also assisting with project-based accounting and program financial tracking.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and wants exposure to both corporate accounting and project/program finance responsibilities. The role will work closely with accounting leadership as well as cross-functional teams including FP&A and project management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Review trial balance activity and assist with budget-to-actual analysis
• Support revenue recognition in accordance with U.S. GAAP and government contracting requirements
• Review and approve purchase quotes
• Provide backup support for cash applications and fixed assets
• Assist with audit preparation, schedules, and supporting documentation
• Identify and support process improvement initiatives across accounting operations
• Convert vendor invoices into project-based journal entries
• Research and validate project coding within internal systems
• Partner with project managers and finance teams to resolve discrepancies
• Ensure proper cost allocation and compliance with contract requirements
• Maintain accurate project accounting documentation and internal controls
• Support project-level financial reporting and analysis
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of accounting experience required; 5+ years preferred
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Government contracting experience required, including FAR/DFARS exposure
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with project accounting, billing, and/or revenue recognition
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• Self-starter with an adaptable, solutions-oriented mindset
• Must be a U.S. Cititzen for compliance purposes
