The Medical Receptionist plays a vital role in delivering excellent patient service and supporting daily front office operations. This position is the first point of contact for patients and is responsible for ensuring a welcoming environment, accurate data entry, and efficient patient scheduling. Experience with Athenahealth is preferred.
Responsibilities:
· • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly, professional manner
· • Check-in and check-out patients efficiently
· • Schedule appointments, manage cancellations, and confirm visits using the EHR system
· • Verify insurance and collect copays and outstanding balances
· • Answer phone calls, triage messages, and provide basic information
· • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
· • Ensure accurate documentation and scanning of records
· • Coordinate referrals and prior authorizations as needed
· • Support clinical and billing teams with administrative tasks
· • Keep the front desk area organized and presentable
Requirements:
· • High School Diploma or equivalent required
· • Prior experience as a medical receptionist or front desk staff in a healthcare setting
· • Proficient computer skills; Athenahealth experience preferred
· • Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills
· • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
· • Strong attention to detail and reliability
· • Bilingual preferred but not required
Physical Requirements:
· • Prolonged periods of sitting and standing
· • Frequent use of computer and telephone
· • Occasional lifting of office supplies and documents up to 25 lbs
