REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Development and Outreach
JOB OBJECTIVE: The Director of Communications & Marketing is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy that enhances the visibility and impact of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. The Director oversees all external communications, brand management, media relations, digital marketing, and storytelling efforts to engage key stakeholders including donors, partners, volunteers, and the public.
The essential job duties include but are not limited to:
- Strategic Communications
- Develop and implement a strategic communications and marketing plan aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Ensure consistent messaging and brand identity across all platforms and materials.
- Serves as lead on all public relations initiatives, including crisis communication plan.
- Marketing and Digital Media
- Oversee content creation for digital platforms including the website, social media, email campaigns, blogs, and newsletters.
- Manage SEO/SEM strategy, analytics, and reporting.
- Lead advertising and promotions campaigns to increase visibility with the Catholic Church and laity.
- Media and Public Relations
- Cultivate relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
- Draft press releases, op-eds, talking points, and other media materials.
- Act as a spokesperson or prepare the Executive Director of Catholic Charities for public appearances and interviews.
- Brand Management
- Maintain brand integrity across all communication channels.
- Develop style guides, templates, and brand standards to ensure cohesive visual and verbal messaging.
- Team Collaboration
- Mange vendor relationships for communications and marketing as well as strong relationships with volunteers and staff.
- Must have a passion for interviewing and telling stories utilizing a variety of mediums, including, but not limited to social media, print, website, and video.
- Comfort with writing, speaking to small and large audiences, website management, and photography.
- Commitment to serving those most in need.
- Assist with the planning, scheduling, and organization of special events.
- Collateral development and ordering of business cards, name tags, and organization/program brochures.
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Development and Outreach.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communication, Business or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in communications and marketing.
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite or other digital platforms.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Advanced understanding of the mission, operation, strategic goals and services of Catholic Charities.
- Excellent English including usage, spelling, grammar, composition and punctuation. Bilingual abilities in Spanish preferred.
- Be sensitive to cultural and socioeconomics diversity of Catholic Charities’ service population.
- Ability to adjust communication style to maximized opportunities in diverse situations.
- Strong attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize, oversee, and direct multiple projects simultaneously using appropriate deadlines.
- Maintain confidential and sensitive information.
- Work cooperatively with other departments, outside agencies, boards, leadership team, and the general public.
- Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing, tailoring the message to the intended audience.
- Use a variety of software packages, including Adobe Creative Suite, Word Press, and Microsoft Office.
- Able to function autonomously and be proactive.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is sedentary work that requires the following physical activities:
- Sitting for long periods of time, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
- Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds of computer equipment or paper supplies).
- May be required to travel by car or plane to business events or other company locations. Travel may require prolonged sitting or standing.
- May require some overnight travel.
- Some nights and weekends necessary especially social network communications.
- Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Normal office environment.
- May be subjected to fast-paced decision making, crisis situations.
