Textile Research and Development Manager

Job Description

Dynamic apparel company seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented Textile Research and Development Manager with 5-8 years of experience in fabric development, textile R&D, or material innovation.

Responsibilities:

• Investigate, develop, and improve fabrics focusing on material, sustainability, and innovation (trend)
• Research market and latest trends to select appropriate fabrics, aligning with performance needs and design aesthetics
• Support the Director in the development and sourcing of fabrics
• Work closely with Design and Production teams to establish and facilitate fabrics and counter sourcing to completion
• Product Lifecycle Management (PLM): Manage initial PLM data entry
• Data & Archive Management: Develop and maintain seasonal tracking charts and organize filing systems for seasonal materials
• Fabric & Material Development
• Ensure materials align with cost targets, quality standards, and production timelines
• Oversee preproduction testing for all developed fabrics

Skills / Qualification:

• Ability to manage multiple seasons and deadlines simultaneously
• Should be well-versed in the latest trends in fashion and textiles and have a broad knowledge of fabrics.
• Strong problem-solving, creative thinking, highly organized, self-starter and collaboration skills
• Understanding of fabric construction, dyeing, finishing processes, and textile technology
• Proven ability to translate trends into commercially viable product concepts
• Candidates must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
