An exciting opportunity is available for an ELA Reading Teacher specializing in Elementary and Middle School education within a K-12 setting in Washington, DC. This contract role spans the current school year (CSY) and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students literacy development in a dynamic general education environment.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Certified General Education Teacher with a focus on ELA (English Language Arts)
- Experience teaching reading and literacy across elementary and middle school grade levels
- Strong ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Proven classroom management skills in a general education setting
- Familiarity with Washington, DC educational standards and curriculum frameworks
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and standards-aligned ELA instruction to K-8 students
- Develop lesson plans that promote reading comprehension, fluency, and critical thinking skills
- Assess students progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with fellow educators and staff to support school goals
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress to stakeholders
- Participate in professional development opportunities and school events as required
