Job Description

Stonehouse Process Safety is a process safety management firm specializing in consulting, testing, and training. Headquartered in Lawrenceville, NJ, Stonehouse works with diverse clients across a variety of industries (chemical, pharmaceuticals, agriculture/food, engineering, technology, construction, wood) to deliver services such as Dust Hazard Analysis, combustible dust testing, explosion prevention and protection, and electrostatics testing.

The Stonehouse team is seeking an entry-level lab technician to join our growing team and gain experience in the field of process safety. The lab technician’s primary responsibilities are to conduct testing and provide support to all areas of the laboratory operations. Ideally you join us with some familiarity with laboratory testing and a curiosity for process safety, but you will also train closely alongside your colleagues and the laboratory manager. The needs of the laboratory change daily, so this is an exciting position with a lot of variety and room for skills development.

This is an in-office position and requires technicians to be on-site in our Lawrenceville, NJ location 5 days per week.

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Laboratory Technician are as follows:

  • Laboratory support for all areas of process safety, including combustible dust, electrostatic, self-heating/thermal instability, and flammability testing
  • General laboratory management, such as maintaining laboratory equipment, preparing samples, recording test data, performing data analysis, and supporting accurate reporting
  • Review and interpret laboratory findings to help complete clear, accurate, and client-facing reports that communicate test results, observations, and relevant conclusions
  • Read, understand, and perform all applicable laboratory SOPs as written
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high-quality results for clients that safeguard their people, processes, and plant
  • Provide input and suggestions for the continuous improvement culture within the lab

Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in chemistry or a related field with relevant lab classes or equivalent experience would be a plus
  • Previous experience in the laboratory and exposure to laboratory terminology is a plus
  • Willingness to work with a variety of samples while wearing appropriate PPE
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy, precision, and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to accurately record observations, test data, and findings to support technical analysis and client-facing reports
  • Strong documentation skills, including the ability to review work for completeness, consistency, and accuracy before results are reported, Must have the ability to read and follow documented procedures, SOPs, safety rules, and operating/maintenance instructions
  • Some analytical thinking and problem-solving skills are a requirement of this position
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, including the ability to enter, organize, and review data in Word and Excel
  • Reliable team player with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and timely deliverables
  • Reliable transportation to commute to Lawrenceville, NJ daily

Job Types: Full-time

Pay: $21-$24/hour + annual bonus
