Position Overview

The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role will collaborate across departments to foster a proactive safety culture and reduce workplace hazards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, policies, and procedures specific to the food manufacturing industry.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and hazard analyses.
  • Lead accident and incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA, FDA, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Manage and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventory.
  • Coordinate and conduct EHS training sessions for employees at all levels.
  • Maintain and monitor records for audits, inspections, and compliance reporting.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to implement engineering and administrative controls that mitigate risks.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inspections and inquiries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred.
  • **Bilingual Spanish required**
  • 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA, and other safety/environmental regulations.
  • Experience developing and delivering EHS training programs.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence safety culture.
  • EHS certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred but not required.
