Summary:

As a Composites Layup Technician at Performance Seats Spartanburg, you will be responsible for performing tasks related to the assembly and fabrication of composite structures (Carbon/Glass/Aramid Systems). You will play a vital role in ensuring that the layup and assembly processes are carried out efficiently and contribute to the production of high-quality automotive seating solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with written work instructions, standard procedures, and processes to perform layup and assembly.
  • Assist in planning, laying out, fabricating, and building composite structures and components.
  • Layup various composite components with a focus on precision and quality, utilizing RTM, Infusion and prepreg processes.
  • Assist in fitting core components with attention to close tolerances.
  • Assist in laying out and marking dimensions and reference lines on materials to develop and trace patterns of product or parts or use templates.
  • Be a supportive member of Environmental Health and Safety, and Quality system policies to provide a safe workplace.
  • Deliver quality products and services on time.
  • Perform routine tasks in preparation for, and assist in the fabrication, curing, build-up, and assembly of various types of composite materials, following pre-determined methods and sequences.
  • Assist in performing non-routine and non-repetitive procedures in the fabrication, curing, build-up, and assembly of various types of composite materials.
  • Gain basic familiarity with composite technology, including hi-temp plastics, pre-impregnated epoxy composite materials, graphite epoxy, wet graphite, and silicone injection molding.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis using proper lifting techniques.
  • Within OSHA guidelines, Bend, stoop, stand, and/or sit for extended periods.
  • Work with small hand tools, including routers, die grinders, band saws, and Dremel tools for layup and assembly tasks.
  • Use basic mathematics skills and precision measuring tools to support layup and assembly processes.
  • Attention to detail.
