Our client company was founded in Orlando over sixty years ago and began with just the founder and two employees. They manufactured concrete block three days a week and delivered block three days a week depending on demand. The founder's spouse was technically a fourth employee, but she was not on the payroll. She would spend Florida days without air conditioning, sitting in her car doing the bookkeeping because they had no office. As time went on, they conservatively grew their business from one plant to five plants under a single roof. This successful team worked together for over fifty-two years. Now, the company is managed by the third generation of the family with two other locations besides Orlando.
The company has an immediate need for Machine Operators at their central Orlando location.
Job Description:
The Machine Operator will ensure the consistent production of a superior concrete masonry unit. Additionally, at the direction of the Plant Manager, the Machine Operator may, from time to time, serve as a team lead to assist and provide guidance to other employees in the completion of their daily tasks in a non-supervisory role.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Follow all safety policies, procedures, and systems.
· Complete visual inspections before operating machinery, forklifts, or loader to ensure proper and safe use of equipment.
· Ensure all tools and parts are safely inspected and properly maintained each shift, and securely stored each shift.
· Monitor the startup and shutdown of all plant machinery.
· Ensure that a quality product is being produced.
· Build mold boxes as required, as well as, clean and make sure they are properly stored when not in use.
· Troubleshoot problems and make repairs as needed.
· Perform preventative maintenance and note parts needed to manager.
· Maintain accurate daily production records.
· Follow production schedule as directed by Plant Manager.
· Confirm batching system settings align to current production requirements.
· Follow all Company’s operating standards, policies, procedures, and system.
· Ensure appropriate operational adjustments to equipment to produce consistent quality concrete masonry units.
· Perform mold box changes and proper set-up of block machines to meet production needs.
· Ensure the entire production area is maintained and cleaned daily, including but not limited to:
o block machine area throughout shift,
o grease block machine daily at the end of every shift, and
o emptying the trash cans and waste hoppers at the end of each shift.
· Notify the manager of any problems and/or concerns that develop during the shift.
· Ensure work area is prepped properly and ready for next shift.
· Open/close facility as required by Plant Manager.
· All other tasks and duties required by your Plant Manager.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of and supporting appropriate safety practices, standards, policies, and procedures related to all operation of the plant, including but not limited to, equipment, cleanliness, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Ability to operate all plant production equipment.
- Ability to operate forklift and front-end loader.
- Display strong teamwork and assist with cross-training of peers.
- Ability to accurately complete required production paperwork
- Ability to use, read, and understand rulers and tape measures.
- Perform repetitive routines based on established systems, standards, and procedures!

- Able to identify and properly use hand, pneumatic, electric power tools, etc.
