Position Overview
This fully remote role entails providing specialized instruction and IEP-based services to students with visual impairments inNevada schools. You'll deliver braille literacy, assistive technology training, functional vision instruction, orientation and mobility supports, and coordinate with families and educational teams to ensure effective learning outes.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) specific to students with visual impairments, covering expanded core curriculum areas.

Deliver live virtual instruction in Braille, assistive technology, academic content, independent living skills, and mobility concepts.

Conduct functional vision assessments and ongoing progress monitoring; adjust instructional strategies accordingly.

Adapt and modify educational materials to ensure accessibility for students with varying visual needs.

Provide consultation and training to parents, classroom teachers, and support staff on accessible teaching practices and assistive technologies.

Offer transition planning and career readiness support for secondary students.

Maintain accurate documentation and pliance records for all student services and state-level reporting.
Qualifications

Education: Masters degree in Visual Impairment Education or Special Education with VI endorsement is strongly preferred.

Licensure: Active Nevada state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.

Experience: At least 12 years of direct experience working with students who have visual impairments. Prior tele?teaching experience is a plus.

Technical Skills: Proficient in Braille instruction, functional vision assessment, assistive technology tools (e.g., screen readers, braille displays), and virtual learning platforms.

Soft Skills: Strong organizational, munication, and collaboration abilities in a virtual work setting.

Certification or endorsement in Orientation & Mobility (S) or Deaf-Blind education.
