Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 15 years of relevant engineering experience
- Strong troubleshooting experience and root cause analysis
- Active secret clearance or ability to hold a DoD secret clearance
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience with submarine mechanical systems, propulsion machinery, or rotating equipment
- Knowledge of GD&T and technical drawing interpretation
- Familiarity with test procedure development and component integration to ship structures
- Operations/construction support experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer for a large maritime manufacturing company based out of New London, CT. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a focus in applying engineering principles in rotating machinery parts. This person will serve as the technical authority for rotating mechanical systems critical to submarine operation for the Main Propulsion Motor in COLUMBIA Class production.
The engineer ensures that components such as bearings, shafts, seals, pumps, motors, and propulsion machinery are reliable, safe, and properly integrated into the submarine platform. Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), this individual bridges design and production, supports integration, and leads troubleshooting throughout the build, test, and sustainment phases.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
