We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our team, part-time or full time, and contribute to our mission of improving the health and well-being of our patients.
Job Summary
As a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant at our primary care practice, you will work collaboratively to provide comprehensive primary care services to our patient population. You will be responsible for diagnosing and treating a wide range of common health conditions, promoting preventive care, and educating patients on health management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments, including taking medical histories and performing physical examinations
- Diagnose and treat common acute and chronic health conditions
- Prescribe medications and other treatments within the scope of practice
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays
- Develop and implement treatment plans, emphasizing disease prevention and health promotion
- Provide patient education on disease prevention, health maintenance, and lifestyle modifications
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in the electronic health record system
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and practice meetings
- Stay current with evidence-based practices and continuing education requirements
Qualifications
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing (MSN) or Physician Assistant from an accredited program
- Current Virginia state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant
- National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP-BC), or a Physician Assistant certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
- DEA registration and prescriptive authority in Virginia
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in primary care (preferred)
- Strong clinical skills and ability to manage complex patient cases
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems
